Meet Dr. Bradley Makimaa
D.P.M., FACFAS
Dr. Makimaa is an athlete and a doctor. Dr. Makimaa competed in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, HI October 2015. His high school sports included soccer, basketball, and track. In undergraduate school, he played rugby and in medical school, he played on the basketball team. This led him to an obvious career in sports medicine. He is a foot and ankle specialist.
Dr.Makimaa is seeing emergency patients and minor surgical patients in the office. Larger surgical procedures and trauma surgery are done at Lower Keys Medical Center. He specializes in sports medicine injuries and well as training programs and preventive care for all athletes. He also sees numerous diabetic and wound care patients.
Dr. Makimaa graduated from Barry University School of Podiatric medicine in 1996. He then had an extensive surgical residency in Foot & Ankle Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami, FL, and Jackson Memorial Medical Center, Miami, FL. He had Wound Care Training: Mount Sinai Wound Care Center, Miami, FL, and Miami Heart Wound Care Center, Miami, FL. He is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Florida Podiatric Medical Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He has given numerous lectures over the years and enjoys teaching both students and local community groups. He has been listed in America’s Top Podiatrists several times.
